1 John 1:8 says, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
What does God hate? Deception.
Why?
Self Deception is thinking:
-I have no sin
-I won’t die
-I won’t hurt anybody
-it doesn’t matter
What are some of the costs of deception?
-time & energy
-conscience?
-relationships?
-careers?
What about the truth?
-speak the truth in love
-shows maturity

-Contrition (to be truly sorry for your sins)
-Confession (verbalization of the above)
-Receive: Grasp
-Intellectually
-Willfully
-Emotionally
-Reaffirm: State Boldly & Clearly
-Faith in Gospel
-Commitment to Christ
-Desire to Change
The Heart of Jesus:
Pure, Peaceful, Purposeful.
